I've been coming here since I was a kid; my grandmother's from Italy and is friends with the owners. It's one of those places that I crave a lot since I no longer live in Washington.
The food has a lot of flavor (there's a lot of bland Italian food out there, but not here). My favorites are the super special salad, the pizza, the spinach artichoke dip, the linguine carbonara, the pesto, and the mostaciolli montanara. Also, if you're looking for cheap lunch, you CANNOT beat their lunch specials. You can get a lunch pasta or slice of pizza, small salad, and rolls for like $6 on weekdays. -

I write this review 3 years after a terrifying incident involving an Aldo's Caesar salad. Thanks to Facebook for reminding me. I meant to yelp this sooner.
I had ordered a delivery to my house and while eating the salad with my 6 year old daughter I felt something very hard and heavy in my mouth. I thank god I didn't actually bite down on this as I am sure it would have done damage. And what if my daughter had gotten this?? Disgusted with what I spit out I immediately drove down to Aldo's to show them.
I asked for the manager and he had the nerve to just say "it must have fallen from a shelf while preparing ". No apologies or even compensation.
I was not surprised by this however. I worked at Aldo's as a 16 year old and knew even then that the moral compasses on those who own/manage this place are broken.
I know Aldo's is a popular place to eat with family and I have many memories with my family here but this ruined it and I will absolutely never go back. Go here at your own risk. -

I hadn't been here in years. I just kind of ended up in Washington for lunch and remembered they have good pizza so I stopped in but I ended up not ordering pizza. I ordered the Daily Lunch Special. It was Tuesday so Tortellini with red sauce and a small salad for $5.74. How can they even serve something that cheap? I also got a small toasted ravioli. None of this food was made by the restaurant. It was all basic food supply items that were assembled. I ate a few bites of the salad, the 8-10 overcooked tortellini under the thick blanket of cheese and all of the toasted ravioli. Perhaps I should have ordered the pizza?

We heard good things about this place. But we just got back and we just aren't convinced. Our waitress seemed unhappy and miserable to serve us. She wasn't rude or anything but we didn't care for the service. Asked for dinner rolls, waited longer than I wanted to for water, she liked standing by the front entrance most of the time. House salad didn't impress. Dinner rolls rocked. Waitress asked if we wanted butter. Primavera pizza was tasty but soggy in the middle and crispy on the outside. Maybe this is a 'style' and it's just not our type, maybe our waitress was having a bad day. Maybe we will try again some day.

Aldo's is in a little strip mall. There are not a lot of parking spaces but there is easy parking along the road it is located on. I recommend the Super Special Salad, small, for a single diner. The House dressing is a nice vinaigrette which I order on the side. If you have the kitchen dress the salad you will occasionally get more dressing than I care to have.
The Deluxe pizza is wonderful. The crust is what most of St Louis natives want, thin and a bit crispy. The toppings are liberally applied on a sauce and cheese base.
The wait staff is young and attentive. Another small thing I like about Aldo's is the music. If 50s & 60s rock is what you like you will like eating here. In my case it often distracts me from conversation at the table. This is a great family place for reasonably priced food.
